On 17 May, Maynooth University launched the findings of the five-year PRIMERA research programme on mental health within families, a comprehensive HSE-funded programme, illustrating barriers that need to be addressed within mental health services.
The HSE provided funding from 2017-2022 for the PRIMERA research programme (Promoting Research and Innovation in Mental hEalth seRvices for fAmilies and children) to identify/develop, implement and evaluate family-focused practice for families with parental mental illness in Ireland. This research is the first endeavour to systematically implement family-focused practice for families with parental mental illness in Ireland.
