An Taoiseach officially launches Crann Centre Playground

Ireland’s First Fully Accessible Playground & Leisure Area opened on 02 July at The Crann Centre in Cork, officially opened by An Taoiseach, Micheál Martin. As a grantee of KHF in 2021, The Crann Centre extended an invitation to attend and the Chairperson of the Board of Trustees for KHF, Willie Holmes, was present at the event. The Playground & Leisure Space is for use by children, adults and families living with neuro-physical disabilities who are registered clients of Crann, their families and invited guests.

Willie was welcomed by Evelyn Power who is in charge of fundraising and alongside Maeve Murphy, Board Member at Crann Centre, gave him the ‘royal’ tour of the facility. Willie commented that the playground and area is a very impressive facility, which is the first playground of its kind in Ireland. It will be the template for other playgrounds going forward.Willie also met the CEO Padraig Mallon and the Founder Kate Jarvey. The event was widely covered on RTE.
