Development Work
KHF’s grant schemes have been complemented by development work that seeks to identify the issues of concern arising from the learning from community based projects. The Foundation works alongside other independent funders and the statutory, community and voluntary sectors in order to increase its capacity and impact on this work. KHF also documents the lessons arising from their work to inform policy at a local, regional and national level. An example of this is working in partnership with the Health Service Executive, South East Area and the involvement of many other agencies in the Community Playgroup Initiative 2001-2004. The production of the Evaluation Report
is evidence of the approach taken by KHF to provide funding and support to community playgroups and to influence policy.
Support for Families in Disadvantaged Communities
Arising out of its aim to support young children and their families, KHF has funded a range of community groups, including community playgroups, parent and toddler groups, after-school groups, women’s and men’s groups, carers groups and community mediation services. This overall work has led KHF to prioritise some groups where it has identified gaps in provision. This can be seen through the work with Community Playgroups and Parent & Toddler Groups..
